Hiya, I’m Adam Tisdale.
I am A GRAPHIC DESIGNER and illustrator CURRENTLY SERVING the CITY OF OLATHE, KANSAS.
With over ten years of experience in design and Illustration, I strive to create smart, intuitive, and charming design. I am currently working to further develop Olathe’s brand as an award-winning city, moving them visually into the future.
A liTTLE ABOUT ME
The day I was born, I was given a sketchbook and a 2b pencil and have been drawing ever since. I can still remember my early art, recreating hello kitty and X-men illustrations, trying to copy and learn from the masters.
As I got older, my interest in art expanded into design, inspired by the sleek visuals of my favorite video games and anime. It was no longer just about a nice drawing, but also the forms, typefaces, and composition all working together.
I wanted what I created to look flashy and cool.
Now when I create, I try to marry both sensibilities. Illustration allows my design to evolve past the ordinary into something truly unique. I strive to leave a little piece of me in everything I create.
EXPERIENCE
2012 - 2014
Graphic Designer
Copyworks
Worked with clients to design and produce different products including: publications, advertisements, and general branding materials. Designed projects from conception to completion including production. I used to feel embarrassed about landing not-so-glamorous job as my first gig after graduating university, but looking back I would never have gained such a vast wealth of knowledge about the printing process and physical production if life hadn’t worked out the way it did.
2014 - 2017
Design Coordinator
University of Iowa, International Programs
Promoted all aspects of International Programs, which encompassed Study Abroad programs and International Exchange student communications, at the University of Iowa through the creation of brochures, newsletters, flyers, pamphlets, web graphics, newspaper and other advertisements. Provided design expertise and consultation with faculty, staff, and graduate students in creating publicity and communications for activities and events to promote seminars, speakers, and special events. Provided graphic design for the IP website, including mobile applications and graphic to be used on social media (facebook, twitter, weibo). Managed all printing processes, assuring high-quality results for multiple departments and projects.
2017 - PRESENT
Graphic Designer
CITY OF OLATHE, KANSAS
Manages the internal and external brand of the City of Olathe. As the city’s first designer, I was originally brought on to help develop overall brand standards for the city to create a unified voice for all communication, while also moving the organization into the 21st century visually. During my time with the city, I have touched all parts of the organization including, communications, public works, budget, human resources, parks & rec, streets, and more.
