As Labelbox expanded from a data labeling platform into a broader AI infrastructure company, its brand needed to evolve alongside the business. I helped redefine the visual system across marketing, product storytelling, illustration, and digital experiences, creating a more cohesive identity that could support everything from enterprise campaigns to product launches.
The Challenge
Labelbox had outgrown its original visual identity. The brand had become fragmented across product pages, marketing campaigns, illustrations, and web experiences, making it difficult to communicate an increasingly sophisticated platform to enterprise customers.
The challenge wasn't simply creating new visuals—it was building a design system that felt premium, flexible, and capable of representing the company's next stage of growth.
Goals
Create a mature visual identity
Shift away from startup aesthetics toward a brand that felt established and enterprise-ready.
Improve consistency
Develop reusable systems that unified product marketing, campaigns, and web experiences.
Tell more compelling stories
Translate complex AI concepts into visuals that felt approachable without oversimplifying the technology.
Build for scale
Create flexible assets and patterns that could support a rapidly expanding product portfolio.
Design Principles
Human over futuristic
Rather than relying on predictable AI imagery, the system uses organic gradients, landscapes, and abstract forms to create a warmer, more approachable identity.
Depth without complexity
Rich color, layered imagery, and restrained typography communicate sophistication while keeping information easy to navigate.
Built for expansion
Every component—from illustrations to campaign layouts—was designed as a reusable system rather than one-off marketing assets.
Establishing a New Visual Language
The refreshed identity centered around warmth, depth, and motion. Gradients, atmospheric photography, and abstract illustrations became recurring visual motifs that balanced technical sophistication with human-centered storytelling.
Bringing the System to Life
The new identity extended across the marketing website, product launches, campaign assets, presentations, merchandise, social media, and digital marketing, ensuring every touchpoint reinforced a consistent and recognizable brand experience.
Impact
The refreshed identity became the foundation for marketing campaigns, product storytelling, and website experiences across the company. By introducing reusable visual systems and scalable design patterns, the brand became more consistent across teams while better reflecting Labelbox's evolution as an enterprise AI platform.
Reflection
This project reinforced that successful rebrands aren't defined by a new logo—they're defined by systems. Building flexible visual foundations allowed the brand to evolve alongside the product while giving marketing and product teams a consistent toolkit for future work.
